Match report from Sawtry Colts Vs Comberton Crusaders on 15 March 2008:

Hardworking Hero Hannah Hammers Comberton

The Sawtry Colts & Comberton Crusader girls put in yet another tremendous performance to provide yet another highly entertaining game.

Calista Brix-Craig & Ellie Bishop stuck with the two loitering Comberton strikers and did there best to contain their lively attacks and Amy Martin mopped up the loose attacks.

On four minutes Hannah Ainsworth broke forwards from midfield to place home the first goal of the match on 4 minutes.

The girls then kept their heads and Katherine Hinton and Hannah worked none stop in midfield to create some further good chances in the first ten minutes for Nicole Stefanelli and Gemma Kirk up front.

After ten minutes Megan Purnell joined the action and helped fight the war but Comberton broke away and managed to level the score against the run of play to make it 1-1 at half time.

After the break Nicole rejoined the action and the kept plugging away, but after a intense midfield battle Comberton managed to pick up a loose ball and slotted it home to take the lead.

But the Sawtry Girls never gave up and kept throwing them selves forward. After Megan left Katherine to take a throw-in she then received the ball and crossed it for Hannah to volley home to draw Sawtry level again.

Then with the minutes ticking away Megan picked up the ball just outside the box, side stepped a Comberton defender and drilled the ball home to give Sawtry a well deserved win.

A super end to the season and it was great for us to get the win against Comberton which has been well overdue.

Final Score: Sawtry Colts 3 - 2 Comberton Crusaders.
