Match report from Priory Parkside Vs Sawtry Colts on 23 February 2008: Sawtry Get Closer To Priory Sawtry Colts U10 Girls put in another sterling performance against Priory Parkside at Priory Park. This was our closest game yet against Priory who have been strong ever since the beginning of the season. We started the first half in a determined mood with Calista Brix-Craig and Ellie Bishop ensuring the Priory front girls did not get too many opportunities and Katherine Hinton and Sophie Godward dominated the midfield providing Nicole Stefanelli and Gemma Kirk with few penetrating balls to chase. Megan Purnell replaced Nicole up front after 10 minutes and it only took her 3 minutes to find herself in the box, she made a side step and finished with her left boot to place the ball past the keeper. Nicole re-joined the action in place of Gemma in the second half and Priory fielded their strongest squad after the break and made more inroads on the Sawtry goal. The girls continued to dig in and try to contain the Priory girls but they hit with two early goals to take the lead. All the Sawtry Girls continued to show true grit and determination and created a couple more chances, but the score remained at 2-1. Well done girls on another great performance. Final Score: Priory Parkside 2 - 1 Sawtry Colts.
