Match report from March Rangers Vs Sawtry Colts on 3 May 2008:

The Sawtry Colts Girls travelled to March to play the return leg against a big and strong March Rangers team who have played the season in the Fenland U11 league.

The game started with March applying some early pressure which Calista Brix-Craig and Katherine Hinton did well to absorb to ensure that Amy Martin was not seriously troubled in the goal.

After the early pressure Sophie Godward and Jess Lilley started to take control of the game with some super passing and movement.

It wasn't long before they started to create chances for Nicole Stefanelli and Hannah Ainsworth in interlink up front to start a worrying time for the March goal keeper who seemed to be equal to every thing we could throw at her.

Then after 13 minutes Ellie Bishop, Sophie Balls & under the weather Megan Purnell replaced Katherine, Sophie G & Nicole who could all then have a well deserved rest.

This then changed the balance of the team and Girl Of The Match Sophie Balls immediately took full control of the midfield. She worked very well with Jess to open the flood gates on the March goal.

After 3 minutes some great work between Megan, Sophie B and Hannah had the girls all a fluster and they cleared the ball for a corner.

Megan whipped the ball in and Hannah and Sophie B put the March defence under severe pressure and this resulted in a swiped clearance which resulted in the ball bouncing past the helpless keeper.

The relentless attacking play continued and Ellie and Calista were very quick to halt any break away efforts from March and get the ball going forwards again.

Then after another 3 minutes of pressure and another March defensive panic Hannah picked up the loose ball and slotted into into the corner of the goal with high precision.

10 minutes after the break Katherine replaced Amy in goal for the final 15 minutes and performed superbly and thwarted every effort on her goal. Katherine is growing more and more with confidence in goal and the training of one of the goal keeping coaches is developing her very well.

Sophie G also replaced the hard working Hannah and Calista made way for Amy to step into defence.

The March girls also made a few changes and sensed that they have a chance of scoring with our re-arranged team, but despite their best efforts the Sawtry Girls kept the game under control and the game finished with Sawtry deservedly winning 2-0.

Final Score:  March Rangers 0 - 2 Sawtry Colts
