Sawtry Go Top In 10 Goal Thriller
Sawtry Colts U10 Girls went top of the table today in a 10 goal thriller in the Burwell sunshine.
Sophie Godward got the goals rolling on 3 minutes with a super strike from 18 yards, Nicole Stefanelli then claimed the second with a good through ball from Calista Brix Craig.
Burwell then came back immediately with a great run and excellent strike which was hit hard and low giving Amy Martin no chance to make a save.
Some outstanding midfield work, from Girl of the Match, Katherine Hinton and the pace and skill of Hannah Ainsworth created an opportunity for Sophie to score her second from close range before Megan Purnell made it four and then Burwell pulled back again.
Solid defending from Calista & Louise Holland kept the Burwell attack at bay while Amy commanded her area to pick up any loose balls.
Nicole then claimed three more in the second half, with Hannah setting up two of these and Burwell got their goal of the match to make the final score line 3-7.
Well done to both Sawtry Colts and Burwell Swallows for a very entertaining and enjoyable game which was very much enjoyed both sets of supporters.
