Match report from Sawtry Colts U10 Vs Sawtry Colts U11 on 9 February 2008: Stunning Performance Against Tough Opposition Sawtry Colts U10 Girls took on the Sawtry Colts U11 Girls who had fielded a good strength squad and the U10's did a superb job of holding the U11's until some quick thinking from the U11 girls saw two identical goals from short corners. Every single girl that played today gave a full 100% commitment and we never looked out of place against this U11 team which reached double figures against us pre-season. Ellie Bishop & Calista Brix-Craig kept a tight hold on defence and new girl Sophie Balls came on for Ellie after 13 minutes and immediately showed what an asset she will be to our team. Katherine Hinton & Sophie Godward started in midfield and Nicole Stefanelli & Gemma Kirk waited patiently up front. After 13 minutes Hannah Ainsworth joined the midfield and Megan Purnell joined the attack. Shortly after Gemma Kirk left the field following some toe-boot issues and this allowed Ellie to slot back into defence, Sophie B to push into Midfield with Girl Of The Match Katherine and Hanna to push upfront with Megan. After a crusading performance from Katherine she was forced to come off after 28 minutes and was replaced by Nicole in midfield. Then a few minutes later Sophie Godward came on for Calista in defence and gave and outstanding performance out of position and coped well against the older girls. A fantastic performance all round and especially from Gemma who is growing in ability and determination in every game. And finally I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Sophie Balls to the team who should start to join us for training after Easter and I am sure will she will soon be another important part of our team.
